The pop princess, who turns 22 on Saturday, Feb. 20, will spend her birthday evening at a "private and intimate" bash thrown by her boyfriend, L.A. Dodger Matt Kemp, sources tell E! News.
It's a far cry from last year, when a splashy 21st birthday bash planned by her record label was cancelled after she was attacked by then-boyfriend Chris Brown. Rihanna retreated from the spotlight and went on a movie date with friends to celebrate the milestone.

| "(Matt) really wanted to do something nice for Rihanna this year since she didn't have much of a 21st birthday last year," a source told E! News. The "small get-together" will reportedly include the couple's "closest friends, good Jamaican food, a photo booth, dancing and a nice cake." The soiree is said to be taking place at a private home in Phoenix, where Kemp is staying during spring training. |  | ||
